Throughout my university career, I have witnessed many safety incidents. All of them can be attributed to a lack of precaution taken by either one of my peers or by a faculty mentor. Based on these experiences I plan on bringing the safety habits I have learned forward with me into my teaching.

Here are a list of Safety rules I know I want to implement in my science class:

  1. No drinks or food
  2. When there are any chemicals out you must wear appropriate PPE
  3. Follow the instructions carefully
  4. Wash your hands after you leave the lab or before you leave the classroom for any reason (bathroom).
  5. Rince any glassware before you use it (Unless it is water sensitive)
  6. Read the lab carefully
