Throughout my university career, I have witnessed many safety incidents. All of them can be attributed to a lack of precaution taken by either one of my peers or by a faculty mentor. Based on these experiences I plan on bringing the safety habits I have learned forward with me into my teaching.
Here are a list of Safety rules I know I want to implement in my science class:
- No drinks or food
- When there are any chemicals out you must wear appropriate PPE
- Follow the instructions carefully
- Wash your hands after you leave the lab or before you leave the classroom for any reason (bathroom).
- Rince any glassware before you use it (Unless it is water sensitive)
- Read the lab carefully
